See, this was prolly the first thing i noticed about you shortly after meeting you years ago. What's worth doing is worth doing right. Cooking with substandard ingredients, playing a game you've been waiting for on a crap system, listening to music on trash speakers...it's just not worth doing at all once it falls below a certain point of quality.

Alternatively, it could be the case that you raise your standard of living so that you can raise the standard of living of those around you.

Why do you keep saying that? Do you need a hug, did I not pay you enough attention last week? Buck up man!

Is there anything you want to fully confess?

That question assumes two things.

1. My conscious is burdened
2. You have the ability to offer me counsel or understanding.

I assure you on both counts the answer is negative. But thanks for caring, it means a lot to me.

Here recently I've actually missed my three-hour daily commute. I am no longer afforded the time to sit and listen to entire albums of good music. Pathetic, isn't it?

Hey you just need to take a break from always being a giver and take some “me” time. Of course this is impossible with two small children. There must be a way…. Well…. Do you remember I had a friend who laundered money by putting gas in my tank on his gas card and I’d give him cash in return? His wife never questioned the gas card bill so he could get a little extra cash by doing this. May I suggest a little time laundering? Now I never “laundered” more than $20 in a month for him so I don’t consider it a major scheme. All I am suggesting is that you “stretch” out a typical task you have to do anyway to get a reasonably small amount of personal music time in the car. Would that be so wrong?

And saying you miss the 3 hour commute… That’s just crazy talk! Where is your head man! Get a grip. Good grief. I don’t know what to say. 11 minutes, you won the frigg’in lottery. Just settle down already. Sorry I lost it for a second. I would give my third testicle to have an 11 minute commute.

I like your idea of 'time laundering' but more than two days a week late and my wife gets all kinds of twisted out of shape. She holds some very tight reins.

As far as the 11-minute [drive] to work (I feel bad calling anything under a half-hour a 'commute') we always desire what we do not have.

Yes, and as she should. I do not condone out and out lying, but rather pushing the envelope once in a while by taking the “long way” home.

I really don't consider anything under half an hour a 'commute.'
