12-hours of sleep later...

Double-checked my server this morning to ensure the sunsolve patch had correctly updated the change in DST (it had) and decided to update NTP on my Soalris box from 4.2.2 to 4.2.4. I thought I'd finally set up my Solaris box to an Network Time Protocol server. My Mac Mini is set to time.apple.com:

BorgQueen:~ ehowton$ ntptrace time.apple.com
time0.apple.com: stratum 2, offset 0.077481, synch distance 0.09744
time2.euro.apple.com: stratum 1, offset 0.068607, synch distance 0.00577, refid 'GPS'

But my Solaris box refused to acknowledge that as a vaild server:

[root@quark: ~]# ntptrace time0.apple.com
time0.apple.com: timed out, nothing received
***Request timed out

Though it will accept other NTP Stratum 1 devices. Curious if the type of reference clock used (in this case, GPS vs. ACTS) is the difference; the Big Purple Book suggested I used xntp instead, but I couldn't confirm that that's whats installed on teh max0r. Further investigation will be required.

Put my glove on today and played catch with my son and the neighborhood kids. My son needs lots of practice. Came inside and drank Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea. Interesting. So my wife has been working on the house this past two weeks, cleaning, painting, destroying, recreating. This past week she tore all the ancient wallpaper out of the bathroom, replaced all the globes, and painted the room a brilliant white. With the coordination of a new shower curtain and accessories, its really breathed new life into the place. This weekend she painted the kitchen cabinets. Everything appears brighter. We're going to Home Depot to pick up some new hardware. We've chosen to replace the grandmother pulls with new sleek brushed aluminum ones (the sink & trim is brushed aluminum). I think even with this little bit, it will help 'update' the kitchen without a major redecorating cost involved.

Rather than remove the gay awkward hood ridges from the Chrysler Crossfire, they've added them to the Sebring models.

We drove to Home Depot and just as things should work out but usually don't, they had, in stock and in the numbers we needed, the very kitchen pulls we identified on their website. How fortuitous. We came home and installed them. The kitchen looks great. Its all about resale, baby. Nothing else.
