What I Want

I want:

  1. Cross-platform Semagic

  2. Cross-platform Adium

  3. Web-accessible ITMS

The Most Highly Esteemed Gentleman, MADDOG (who has bequeathed me a rack-mount U60) called to give me its specs. Dual UltraSPARC II 450Mhz's and 2GB of RAM. As if that weren't enough, he threw in a SCSI DVD-ROM for loading Solaris 10, and even updated the EEPROM to allow boot from DVD. Hell of a guy that MADDOG. Once I take possession of the box, I'm guessing it will take me at least a month to get the box where I'm happy with it. Its been nearly two years since I've installed Solaris, and I've never done a minimal (Core) Solaris 10 install. I have all my Solaris 9 binaries on my server which makes Core 9 installs a snap. I'm going to have to do the same thing with the 10 binaries and I don't know what to expect. I'm pretty excited about building it out - I'm also already weary of it; so much work to do! And I have no idea what I'm going to do with my RAVE. At this point I assume the U60 utilizes SCA drives, and unless I can bogart some 36 or 72GB drives to mirror, the RAVE is going to have much more storage capacity with its internal 68-pin 40GB's (maybe I should have taken up that offer of that D1000 Array?)

I am sick today. A little tickle in the throat yesterday which developed into a full-blown head cold by the end of the day. This is twice in as many months. I must be doing something wrong. Hopefully today off work with lots of rest & even more Nyquil will allow me to finish out the week. Things are getting busier for me at work.

schpydurx has finally said goodbye to the teenage emo kids on xanga and joined us full time here on lj. Please feel free to stop by his site and smack him around a little bit. As he's been a presence here for so long with nothing posted, a lot of readers are unaware he has actual, real, non-bs posts up now.

There's more to say, but not today. I'm going to go take a nap.
