In two notably unexpected moves, I installed Opera on my laptop (as I needed a secondary browser and didn't want to use IE) and got falling-down drunk Monday night at drax0r's. We ended up crossing a recently razed cornfield approximately three-quarters of a mile across. Very rough terrain. Oddly enough, I quite literally leapt up the next morning, made my way home, showered and dressed, and didn't miss a beat at work. I was surprisingly not hungover after half a bottle of Maker's Mark. Generally, when I'm drinking socially, I limit myself to one an hour so as to be able to react to anything which may arise. Apparently Monday, I was NOT drinking socially.

Opera (so far) appears to be playing well. Its quick, and has some nifty features, but it displays just like IE, so other than being more secure, I really don't see the point.

Slapped some third-party SIIG USB card into my Sun Ultra10 in hopes of setting up Amarok to rip CDs and manipulate the iPod and boy was I surprised when...it worked! dmesg reveals:

The boy woke me up at 0515 because of lighting. I couldn't go back to sleep, so I went to work.

I had a gorgeous breakfast of eggs, hash browns, biscuit & gravy - all topped generously with Tabasco's chiptole sauce. Fantastic! For giggles, I washed it all down with my first Monster in over a week. Oh yeah, I'll be unstoppable today. Un-fscking-stoppable!

Last night, serving penance for missing my boy's Cub Scout meeting (and, subsequently drax0r's boy's trip to the "Anna Circus") we spent nearly three hours with the kids first at the park in the next city North of us (Van Alstyne), then at the Burger King playland...I won't ever be eating at Burger King again. Most of their food tasted like it was made with petroleum products. That aside, it was a fantastic time, and I wish I could spend more evenings like that with my kids.

Halloween 2001:
I wore my kufi, keffiyeh, agal and thawb
to show that all middle-easterners were not terrorists.
That turned out to be not well-reasoned in Texas.

Congratulations! It's about time you've come home.

I'm curious about this statement:

but it displays just like IE

Please expound on this. The two browswers use different layout engines. Did you expect Opera to render tags differntly or something? I do not know what this means.

Discuss.

In Firefox, all my fonts show up, well, for lack of a better term, normal. In IE, some pages show the font as FOOKING GIGANTIC! These same pages which show normal in Firefox, and FOOKING GIGANTIC also show up FOOKING GIGANTIC in Opera.

If I can't get normal fonts in two different W3C compliant browsers, and one shows up looking as busted-ass as IE, aside from the security angle, I can't see using one over the other.

I can imagine that would not go over well in Texas. :)

I want your breakfast!

I am now craving a Maker's Mark and Diet Coke - at 9am.

Sounds like you and draxor had fun. I wish I could handle alcohol so well...

My chest and surrounding muscles are sore from all the violent visceral vomiting.

You drink a half a liter of bourbon and walk across a freshly tilled corn field and tell us how much fun you had. :)

Oh, no.....let's clarify here. EHowton did NOT handle his alcohol well. Before he puked his guts up in my hall bathroom, I heard he was fertilizing aforementioned corn fields with partially digested Marker's Mark and Coke. The ONLY reason these two retards didn't have hangovers was because they started drinking at 4 p.m. and stopped at or around 7:00 p.m.

The best part was Ehowton laying in the hallway wailing "She hates me! She hates me!" and trying to convince me that it was his fault Drax0r got drunk.

We can laugh about it.....now.

That pic (and the associated avatar) were both taken Monday after work, with backgrounds from Saudi I took in 1995.

At least you survived it.
One lady got right up in my face and yelled at me, "Boy, you sure got a lot of Jesus in you come out here dressed like that." I'm surprised I wasn't shot.
