Part 3

I left you at the end of a century and the apex of a geek's dream. A young son to bear your name and resemblance; a full life still ahead of you. Let us see where we shall go from here.

2001
What in God's holy name did you need that many boxes for? I once had a conversation with our dear friend drax0r; he commented that you like to keep too many boxes going for no good reason when less would suffice and be just as efficient. I think I tend to agree with him. I mean hell, I've only owned two operating computers at once though I've gone through my fair share.

Little boy's expression in this photo could be so many things.

2002
I have not heard this story until recently. What made you commute from Texas to Kansas on a regualr basis? What was the schedule like?

I like this desktop the best so far. Tell me, are we looking at one box with three peripherals? I imagine that the logo on either side of this picture were photoshopped in after the fact. Is that true?

You've had more jobs then I've imagined that you had. How many of these jobs have been with CRC? Correlation to that, when did you start at CRC and when/how did you meet drax0r? Sorry for the deluge of questions, but a body has a right to be curious and this is a period of your life that I do not know. I am, however, more curious with each passing image and word, perhaps because it seems to be that our lives mirror each other's; therefore, I want to know what "comes next".

2004
This would have been about the time that we met on TSS. God, those were the days! As you very well know, I was going through my personal email whist at work this afternoon and ran across where we used to email the "logs" back and forth of the chat. Too bad Thresher let the forums go to pot. Those were so much fun. Perhaps if it hadn't of been for the degradation of the forums (not to mention the fact that TSS was the come back of SchpydurX) we would have never blogged. Ironically, you sit back and watch how the wind blows. While blogging certainly wasn't the newest kid on the block in 2004, it sure as hell wasn't what we have made it become over the years. But I digress.

I never really got MUD servers. They were cool for their time, but I didn't get why you were still playing on them in 2004. Of course, I don't do fantasy and it seems (in my mind; granted I've never played on a MUD, but oh well!) that most take place in a castle and are fantastical. I just don't get it. Maybe if I played on that was very well written I'd renege this opinion, but that hasn't happened ergo I won't.

And that's another thing: if MUDs are text-based, why in God's name do they have to be hanging off of some goddamned lightning bolt? What was the highest number of players that were ever logged on simultaneously?

2005 Boyd
What in God's holy name were you thinking?

I should also point out that this is not in chronological order.

Wild Damned Texan
What was the goal of this business again? Those were some fun times. Oh the laughs that we exchanged and the crazy late hours that we kept. Thank God we're both older and wiser now.

I've not had the pleasure of being introduced to squackle. Do you care to elaborate on what exaclty squckle is doing here? Too bad he hasn't blogged over the years. Quite sad.

2005 Workhole
Eric. G. Howton at his zenith! I love this workspace because it is clean, functional, gives you lots of space to spread out but is simultaneously minimalistic and trendy. You look really happy here.

celtmanx's pad
Interesting. It looks like you got more gaming done here then you did work. I shall have to inquire of celtmanx for juicy stories from this epoch.

Hotel
OS X with a Windoze wallpaper. I should shoot you for this blasphemy! Jesus H. Christ!

I like the prayer rug turned mouse pad. I see that your Storm Troopers kept watch over the b0x3n during the night.

Re: Part 3

I think I tend to agree with him.
Yes, I could run one box with one operating system. However, in an Enterprise environment (which is what we support) they have hundreds of boxes. And not a one of them runs everything. And they all run different operating systems. So yeah, I had a lots of boxes running different operating systems, and set it up so I could learn how to point at different boxes for different things. Just like in real life.

What made you commute from Texas to Kansas on a regualr basis?
1. A job, to support my family.
2. Because my boss asked me to.
3. My wife was considering relocating to Wichita and this was an opportunity to explore that.

I imagine that the logo on either side of this picture were photoshopped in after the fact. Is that true?
Yes. I no longer have the original pic of this one, and that one (created for another purpose altogether) is all that remains.

You've had more jobs then I've imagined that you had.
I have been with my current company seven years this past July. I have worked for four different clients, one of them four different times. I met drax0r in 2000. We've been working together (on and off) ever since. Prior to that, I was with my current client working for a different company (as was drax0r). Prior to that I was a Navy Contractor deployed to different Aircraft Carriers traveling two weeks every month. Prior to that I served in the United States Air Force for seven years.

Maybe if I played on that was very well written I'd renege this opinion, but that hasn't happened ergo I won't.
You've painted yourself into a nice, tidy corner there, WonderBoy. You are now trapped by faulty logic. You're right, you'll never know if they're good enough to play because you'll never play them to find out. Brilliant.

What was the highest number of players that were ever logged on simultaneously?
All MUD questions should be directed toward dentin who hand-wrote the engine & maps, or drax0r who admins the box. A word of warning only because I know you too well: dentin will not bother answering elementary questions from someone who doesn't first read, research, or play as a matter of courtesy. You've been given this advice before. Heed it, and don't make me post the link as a reminder.

What in God's holy name were you thinking?
How many times in the last three years have you just turned off your computers and put them away for a little while? HOW MANY? That's what I thought. STFU.

I should also point out that this is not in chronological order.
I'm glad you appreciate the time and effort I put into gathering softcopy images, finding and scanning in hardcopy pictures, resizing, cleaning up, indexing, collating, uploading and authoring this post. Thank you. Now go fuck yourself.

What was the goal of this business again?
To make money.

Do you care to elaborate on what exaclty squackle is doing here?
No.

You look really happy here.
I wasn't. I didn't have a house, or a family. I hated the job. I spent one night a week at my folks, one night a week at drax0r's, two nights a week at celtmanx's, and three nights a week at WDT.

Interesting. It looks like you got more gaming done here then you did work.
Brilliant assessment! Yes! All I did there was game. I did no work there whatsoever. We played a lot of Star Trek: Elite Force.

OS X with a Windoze wallpaper. I should shoot you for this blasphemy! Jesus H. Christ!
I also run OSX wallpaper on my XP box. Is that blasphemy too? Or is it humourous? How would you know, you're not funny. Then again, you did use Christs name as a profane oath immediately following the word, "blasphemy" which, had you done it on purpose, would be funny in its irony.

I see that your Storm Troopers kept watch over the b0x3n during the night.

Re: Part 3

Yes, I could run one box with one operating system.
I wasn't implying that you do that.

So yeah, I had a lots of boxes running different operating systems, and set it up so I could learn how to point at different boxes for different things. Just like in real life.
Now that makes sense.

Kansas
Two and three was what I was looking for. One goes without saying.

Did you ever click your heels thrice and say "There's no place like home" whilst in this epoch?

number of jobs
I wasn't implying that you didn't have a good work ethic, I just didn't think you had moved around that much after getting out of the service.

MUD
So the server is still up and going today? I did not know that.

How many times in the last three years have you just turned off your computers and put them away for a little while?
Several times when I had the laptop. :D

chronological order
I was merely pointing out that as everything else was in order, this was not. I do appreciate all the time, effort and energy that you put into this post, otherwise I wouldn't have written 5 pages of point by point comments and responses.

What was the goal of this business again?
To make money.

Who'da thunk?

I meant what services were you planning to render in exchange for a nice fat profit?

squackle
squackle was deleting your pRoN for you.

looking happy
You really know how to fake it until you make it.

Brilliant assessment!
I try.

also run OSX wallpaper on my XP box. Is that blasphemy too? Or is it humourous?
That, sir, is hilarious!

had you done it on purpose,
I did.

Storm Troopers
I still hold to that position. I was just being nice.
