Tell me of your homeworld, Muad'Dib

A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then, that is is the year 10191. The known universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam the Fourth, my father. In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the spice Melange. The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel. The Spacing Guild and its navigators, who the spice has mutated over 4000 years, use the orange spice gas, which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of the universe without moving. Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you. The spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe. A desolate, dry planet with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Fremen, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah, who would lead them to true freedom. The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune.

I will be out-of-pocket all day today, unavailable by the usual means.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

It is by the juice of Sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion..

Mentat? I haven't seen that actor in but a handful of movies but he always makes an impression.

If you're referring to Pieter, that's Brad Dourif, who often has worked with David Lynch. He was on Deadwood and also did an extremely memorable guest shot on Babylon 5, and was Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings films.

Thta's him! Other than Dune I've only ever seen him as Wormtongue, a serial killer on Voyager and a drug dealer on Fatal Beauty (I had all of Whoopi's movies on laserdisc back in the day).

You simply have to break out the Dunecat at times like these!

Lady Jessica = the model of feminine power, grace, and elegance. Strange, but my wife actually looks a lot like her.

I think the only other thing I've ever seen the actress in was a laserdisc I had of Agatha Cristie mysteries - but as far as the character, I was in love with her before I even saw her on the big screen.

Dude, you quoted Dune yet used a Star Trek Voyager avatar!!! What's up with that???

Aha! The discerning reader would've noticed that Viginia Madsen, who played Princess Irulan, the narriator of the above quote, also played Kellin in the STV episode Unforgettable (4th Season). And while I have no Dune avatars, I certainly have one of Kellin.
