Recently I posted concerning the building of ubunutu server 8.10 Intrepid and the joys and failure of apt-get as it concerned Gallery 2. I was finally able to correct the rebuilding of the thumbnails by cranking the amount of memory PHP is allowed to use to 64MB (though it didn't touch nearly half of that) and I finally fixed all the PHP smarty issues and can now gloriously present to you, once again, my fully-functional gallery:

I have about two years worth of updates to perform now...

I upgraded little girls computer from an AMD 1.1GHz to an Intel 1.6GHz P4 and increased her memory (she's the only one running Windows in the house). Since all the cases were identical, it was effortless. drax0r and I sure love our Antec cases. I added all the extra optical drives to the old case (minus only a power supply and 2100 memory) as a gift for onthetrails who wanted a play box for installing different operating systems on.

I also got Joomla working at work today - that also was much more arduous than it would first appear. While apt-get is certainly easier in the short-term, compiling everything yourself is usually more stable. Until you update, of course. I was thrilled to see that vmware's 'auto configuration' of kernel libraries is working, which made the transition to 8.10 nearly a dream. Intrepid was the easiest ubuntu upgrade yet!

And...I've seen a LOT of movies this past week. Now that the year is at a close, let's take a vote!

I, um, had to vote for two, because one I actually liked the most, but I have a great big wet spot for the actor who plays the title character in another, and thus I watched it quite a few times (*shifty eyes*). Purely for informational purposes, you understand, not for anything involving depraved lust, oh no.

As did I. I *really* enjoyed Tropic Thunder.

Those who pick The Dark Knight may leave their self-respect at the door.

Those who pick The Dark Knight may leave their self-respect at the door wipe up the brains dribbling from their ears.

Fixed that for you. Don't say I'm never helpful.

There was that Martin Lawrence movie called Blue Streak, that had the world's stupidest tagline ever. With a little editing, it fits TDK perfectly.

"HES A KNIGHT THATS NOT. BELIEVE THAT!"

I call bullshit. It's a great movie.

I vote for Max Payne.

I never played the video game so I had no preconceived bias... Plus as far as a night out at the movies, it was perfect. Pop corn sucked though.

Yes Man is a close second because of Zooey Daschnel and constant hilarity.

Excellent. Two I haven't seen, but I expect I'll at least see Yes Man for the reasons you mentions. Although...you might just find yourself in the middle of another Zooey bidding war for bringing her up here, FYI.

Oh I am fully aware of what Might happen by mentioning Zooey in your blog.

You know, I just saw Iron Man on that list. It probably wins for me over WALL-E.

I almost picked Twilight just because of Rob Pattinson. It is the only one of those movies I have seen twice.

Because of Rob Pattinson.

Which one is your fav?

Tropic Thunder. I've seen Twilight twice now as well. But NOT because of Rob Patttinson.

Well pretty boy aside, it is a very enjoyable movie and I really like the score. Especially Bella's Lullaby.

*sigh* Yeah, I spoke to soon. Still tracking all that down. Going through each errant picture in the database line by line. Ugh. "MR. WONDERFUL FACILITIES GUY" brightens my day though!
