The slideshow with descriptions

Larger, unfettered pictures (Double-click the image)

All images are my own, and excepting the snow-globe effect on "submerged" (and to a lesser degree the effect on "psychokinesis") everything but post-processing color & cropping was done "in camera."

I'll add nicetwins later in the day, and I didn't get to ubet_cha at all. Everyone else has been represented.

Except melancthe.

Feedback is most welcome - Thanks again and enjoy!

I thought melancthe was represented when you did my request.

Also, you have more talent than I could ever hope to have. I'm jealous of your abilities, Sir.

Thanks dude, that is possibly the most flattering thing you've ever said to me.

But don't believe it - If you can dream it, you can be it!

Yayy! Mine's there. Many people would use B&W or Sepia to easily depict solitude and loneliness. But it's in color and still captures the essence of it.

I especially love the one with reflection, the fedora, the folded newspaper etc. Very good. :)

You're very talented. More photos, please. :D This makes me want to take more photos. Even with my crappy camera, I might just do that!
ehowton at 2010-07-10 19:23 (UTC) (Link)
Thanks! And absolutely - its not at all about crappy cameras - mine's just a point 'n shoot. Its all about finding subject matter that you want to represent in your own way.

I have to tell you - I had NO IDEA how I was going to take your picture, until I found it. I made myself leave the house and just walk around downtown Anna with my camera just in case.

Glad you liked it!

:D Challenging your creativity! I was supposed to suggest like a... forced perspective photo, but I was reading something and I stumbled upon that quote and thought that would be better.

Wow... These are fantastic! And good job working out my one-word prompt! We were given those in logo design classes at Ai and I loved it. Then again, we were given a list of 100 words and it was a two week assignment... I relished that sort of challenge.

I love the grasshopper. Well, the photo—I hate the damn bugs. My uncle's ranch is swarmed by them. They bite when you try to brush them off your pant legs. Interesting fact: we don't have grasshoppers here in Virginia. But we do have the 17 year locusts/cicadas and the other species that doesn't hibernate that long.

The macro shot is gorgeous.

Thank you! I was so afraid I was going to come off as a rank amature :/

So anyway, that shot is my wife's shirt in the foreground, and a B&W print we have in our bedroom - I put a 50% gradient over it with the two colors being the orange and yellow from Jayne's hat!

Awesome photos all, Eric! You were given quite a variety of subjects, and captured them artistically. And since it was my request, thank you for the grasshopper photo. It's much easier to study its intricacies when captured for the moment in a picture. I could see far more detail than I ever would if trying to deal with the living creature. Um..., if you ever get the urge or opportunity, I'd love more insect pics. :-)

Re: Photos

Thanks so much!

When we lived in Boyd we had these GIGANTIC black and yellow spiders we called "banana spiders" because they were seemingly that large, and I knew I wouldn't be happy with the ones here had I found any, and obviously I didn't - but I'm pleased you like the grasshopper!

The only other random insect pic I have currently is from last November:

Wonderful work! You have a beautiful mind. When needed...I want you to direct a music video for me.

Swank. The ceramic (?) cat was a nice touch. Very raw shots, Eric. My compliments.
ehowton at 2010-07-10 22:33 (UTC) (Link)
Peace. The cat was a gift from celtmanx. There was also a leather-bound volume of Lord of the Rings which didn't make the frame, and if you couldn't tell, the cigar was a Macanudo.

Thank you.

ANd you really must explain the silhouette in depth. Who is it? I have a feeling that it may be you? I'm sooooo confused! LOL

Fantastic shots! Still trying to figure out how the heck you found psychotic baby birds to photograph though :-)
ehowton at 2010-07-10 22:41 (UTC) (Link)
Thanks! Well, that one was by complete accident - finding them that is, not taking the picture - which was an accident waiting to happen as I was perched atop a ladder with only three legs touching the ground holding a camera with a huge fish-eye lens over the top of the nest while mama & daddy bird swooped at me from above.

I was sure I was going to take a tumble at some point.

The one of the restaurant is a gorgeous image; it's my favorite. The perspective, framing, treatment. All perfect.
ehowton at 2010-07-10 22:46 (UTC) (Link)
Wow, thanks! It was one of my last shots, which I stumbled upon completely by accident.

don't have much feedback except to say that those are all really lovely :)
