I spent two hours 650-feet underground.

Bill touched everything. Yes, that's salt.

"Yeah, they're like...five years old."

Very cool picture collage! You did a fabulous job with this subject, given that it would be a rather difficult "wonder" to photograph.

And I know Grandpa had an excellent time! I'll admit it sounds bad though ~ taking Grandpa to the salt mines. Makes me giggle.

I'm stuck on Trojan explosive powder...

Sounds like a fun trip. I would totally touch the salt too. Is there a gift shop that sells every kind of salty snack imaginable?

Awkwardly, no. My wife wanted salt taffy. Apparently this particular vein is used for water softener and road crews.

Dammit, I forgot this.

Alan Rickman playing Alexander Dane playing Doctor Lazarus! One of my "all-time" favorite films.

Mine too! :) I love Alan Rickman in just about anything, but his character in Galaxy Quest (and the entire movie) totally cracked me up.

Ooooh, I'd love to visit an old American disused mine one day (is this one disused). This post totally reminded me of Scooby Do and Ghost Whisperer.

This was an active mine! We had to wear hardhats and carry a chemical re-breather! Though we weren't near the workers in the museum side the entire place was ENORMOUS with 10-foot ceilings and 150 miles of grid-square tunnels, 50-feet wide with 40-foot pillars supporting. It was insane!
