Keep your head up. It's all in the attitude!!! Remember your not in Texas any longer, logic doesn't apply.

Some lessons you have to learn the hard way.

Okay, dude, I realize Kansas got in line twice for bureacracy, but Texas, logical? Nope. I got a driver's license as a new resident (from another state), and the required documentation was incredible. They asked for everything but the soul of my first born. It required more than one trip to the DMV. Logic had nothing to do with the process.

I just went down to the DMV last week to get the tags renewed on my BMW and it took less than five minutes with zero wait time in line. The clerk didn't even check my insurance card. When I asked why she didn't she said, "I don't need to check your insurance sweetie, I know you!". I don't recall ever meeting her before, but it's nice to be known.

Sorry, to hear about your experience at the McKinney DMV. I have heard registration of cars of owners from foreign countries does take longer. They were probably making sure you weren't an illegal alien. It's also possible that the people working at that DMV don't take kindly to carpetbaggers. Not everyone in Texas is tolerant of Yankees.

LOL! Yeah, my red hair was a dead giveaway to my illegal-ness. ;-) Sneaking in from Scotland and all that.

Actually, I'm probably more of westerner. My last long-time home was in Nevada. Nevadans and Texans have a lot in common in regard to a somewhat liberatarian attitude. However, unlike Texas, it takes work to find a church in Nevada. I'm okay with that.

If all of Kansas flooded, you could walk from Nebraska to Oklahoma on the tops of churches and never get your feet wet.

Truer words have never been spoken.

As the INS officer said to Cheech Marin's character Rudy in Born in East L.A. "Where were you born?". If it's in the North your a Yankee. If it's not in Texas, who really cares. My mom's brother liked to travel a lot. One of his daughters was born in California. She's the only person in my family in over 100 years not born in Texas. We still call her a Yankee!!!

How do you really feel? This is a safe place, go ahead and let it out.
