Vibrancy! Those who desire it sometimes have to work at finding it. The first time I was in this house the walls were a flat gold which sucked life out of the room, and out of your soul. The second time I was in this house the walls were a flat white, which was slightly better than the flat gold from a illumination/soul-sucking perspective. When it was time for a complete transformation however, HIGH-GLOSS PURPLE. The walls practically shimmer in sunlight. I wish I could accurately depict the various and undulating hues this paint reflects dependent upon lighting conditions. The super gloss finish was chosen so the depth of the color wouldn't steal ambient light from the room, rather just borrow it and give it back in a slightly modified way. Also - kids. Dude, they can touch the walls and it won't smudge or discolor. Its the finish of the future.

So now, when my #1 response, "Seriously?" is replied to my statement that my living room is purple, again, I have somewhere to point them. A little girl came in the house the other day looking for her brothers and announced aloud, "WHY IS THE HOUSE PURPLE?" I had to cover my mouth from laughing out loud :)

I would love to help you, but I think its important to experience first-hand the toll of near-defeat as you rush headlong into a seemingly insurmountable job expecting crushing defeat at the conclusion.

That I believe, more than the color makes a house (or a hondo) a home.

Many hands may make light work, but if it isn't difficult, its not worth doing, and I would hate for you to think your newly painted place wasn't worth it. The sweat of your brow and the ache between your shoulder blades will drive that point home and return with `pride` far more than my shallow words here.

Good luck!

Hrm.... You wouldn't be opposed to taking before and after pictures, would you?

Great color ties in nicely.

That was the idea. The runner-up potential kitchen color was canary yellow. Which I believe Mr. Witwickey's kitchen was. I never took him up on his offer to see the interior of his house, always wish I had.

Love the purple with your "Persian" rugs. And by the way, the white was satin, not flat. :)

Thanks! I will amend the following to read:

...the walls were a NOT GLOSS gold which sucked life out of the room, and out of your soul. The second time I was in this house the walls were a NOT GLOSS white, which was slightly better than the NOT GLOSS gold from a illumination/soul-sucking perspective.

Wooooh! I bet that is pretty at night with candlelight.

Side note, ahhhhhh...cream colored carpet. I had that once...and then after the 6 year old moved in...it was NO MORE. Now it's a lovely shade of speckled dirt. I'm not even sure a steam cleaner could make it pristine again. I'd love to rip it up and have wood floors.

It really is.

And we were looking at finished (stained, polished) concrete floors in Texas. Alas, every house here has a basement.

Hey where's your recliner sofa?

Believe it or not, we sold it. It was 20 years old. That said, I was surprised someone bought a 20-year old couch. A credit to its construction.

That was a nice sofa. Were keeping our old beige sofa in storage for when our oldest goes to college.
