I'm apparently no longer a Computer Scientist. My new title is, "Senior Professional: System Administrator."

I guess we disagree on what, "urgent" means at work, and what is important.

When I see something like this, I am reminded of that Cheers episode, where Woody intends to ask Rebecca for a raise, and she throws him off track stating, "Oh, all you want is a raise; I thought you wanted a title," eventually convincing Woody that a title would be the more valuable of the two.

Perplexingly enough, there are people like Woody in real life. I suppose after a certain dollar amount, a title is the next brass ring.

In that case, I am going for something like Czarina. :p

Have you wished the old man a happy birthday?

Had intended to answer you right away...., but anyway, yes I did!

I bet they also sent the janitor an urgent email letting him now his title changed from janitor to custodial engineer.

For awhile, we had about 10,000 armed mercenaries on our payroll, but I don't think we've ever had any janitors.

Were the mercenaries hired to keep the workers from revolting?

my husband title is a data analyst (um he's a programmer plus lots of other things). sorry to hear it - scientist are just way cooler than administrators. do you have to give back all your test tubes?

and apparently it's your birthday, so...

Why thank you ma'am. And no, I get to keep all my test tubes. The last time they arbitrarily changed my title, my boss came in person to tell me to my face I was no longer a Site Service Delivery Manager, but a Site Service Delivery Lead based on the number of employees I was managing. Before I could argue, he interjected, "But you still get to keep your Manager pay."

When Cingular took over AT&T Wireless my title as Lead Sales Representative was taken away but my pay stayed the same and my manager responsibilities went away. However I was still the Leader in sales for the Fort Worth area.
