"I need new pants, Dad."
"I'll take you to Wal-Mart after school tomorrow."
"I don't want to buy pants at Wal-Mart, I want to buy pants at Target."
"We don't have a Target here, and I'm not taking you into Wichita for pants, why don't you want to buy your pants at Wal-Mart?"
"I don't like the Wal-Mart brand pants."
"Wal-Mart doesn't make pants, they sell the same pants they sell at Target."
"Well I like the shirts better in Wichita."
"Me too. I'll take you to Target or Dillard's for shirts, but we're still getting your pants at Wal-Mart."
"I don't like getting pants at Wal-Mart."
"They don't have my size."
"So they had your size the last time you were there, and they have my size, but they don't have your size now? How is that possible."
"I don't know. I don't like buying pants at Wal-Mart because its too time-consuming trying them on."
"If you think I'm going to take you into Wichita to buy pants you're not going to try on, just to find they don't fit later, then take you back to Wichita to exchange them for a different size you're not going to try on, that will never happen. No matter where we go, you will always try on every pair we buy."
"Fine, but I don't know why you have to argue with me all the time."
Afterward, he decided if we were going to buy shirts in Wichita, he'd rather buy them at Academy Sports, not Dillard's or Target. I buy clothes at Dillard's because when they are on sale, and you have a card, they are super inexpensive (and as a rule, far higher quality). So we discussed Academy Sports, and unlike the above exchange, he had poignant, valid reasons. Nonetheless, I want as much bang for the buck as possible, so I got onto their website, signed up for their sales email, and applied for a card.
I was rather shocked however, when they approved it 30-seconds later for 11.24% APR and $22,000 credit.
TWENTY-TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS CREDIT AT ACADEMY SPORTS?
I can finally afford that Alaskan expedition I never wanted to take!
