Well, I just experienced my first earthquake. I thought that what it was, but wasn't sure until michelle1963 confirmed it. I gotta tell you, the not knowing was almost as scary as going through it. I live in a fairly substantial house - with a second-level concrete basement, so when the entire house started shaking I couldn't imagine it being much else.

I was sitting at my desk when it starting vibrating and there was a low rumble outside. It shook for several seconds, paused, then shook again.

4.8 magnitude earthquake! Yikes!

This is the 4th one I have felt since moving to Wichita in late 2011 - it was also the most substantial. Although I grew up in southern California, it's been a LONG time since I experienced such shaking. Rather un-nerving.

It was a rather unique experience.

Yes, the fracker's reported it had nothing to do with their fracking operation.

It's not the fraking itself. It's the ridiculous pumping of the water used in fraking back into the ground at another site instead of recycling it that causes the earth quakes.
