Second Surgery

While I was not looking forward to a second surgery 7-months after my first, I also wasn't the asshole who decided medical insurance "deductibles" magically reset each calendar year. And while 30-days off my feet the first time around was difficult, this other knee I was told would require only a couple of days downtime. So in we went, and well, the difference was OUTSTANDING. You see, I'd absolutely refused to go back to St. Francis for my second surgery after the horrendous experience last time. Thankfully, this one was a simple meniscectomy on my right knee instead of the full meniscus repair I had on my left knee, and therefore could be accommodated at the Surgery Center next door, which was like a dream comparatively.

There was an entire staff on hand to walk me through each step of the procedure, in this state of the art facility, and armed with the knowledge I had after last time, explained the need for dilaudid over morphine ahead of time - this didn't seem to be an issue at all. I also knew to expect I would have no recollection of being administered the initial sedative or anything after that, which is exactly how it went down - not nearly as unsettling when you're expecting it. As it turned out this time around, I awoke in recovery fully alert and well rested - a far cry from last time with the endless unanswered questions and barked commands.

I had also supplied them with both the polar pack wrap and T.E.N.S. electrodes which were placed in the wrappings ready for use before I even awoke. Absolutely everything about this visit was smooth, and easy, and my recovery just as simple.
